Culinary Expertise
We are seeking a seasoned Cook to lead our culinary team at Pier
Sixty-Six Resort. As a key member of our team, you will be
responsible for creating exceptional dining experiences for our
guests. Reporting to the Sous Chef, you will support and provide
excellent service within our culinary department. This high-volume
position requires a passion for culinary arts and a
service-oriented attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with
others, supporting your team to reach common goals.
- Prepare special meals or substitute items, ensuring quality and
presentation standards are met.
- Assist with stocking and setting up each station, maintaining a
clean and organized workspace.
- Train new staff members in preparation methods, promoting a
culture of excellence.
- Act as a role model for other cooks, demonstrating our 5-star
standards of excellence and job role execution.
- Work in a clean and organized fashion, ensuring all tasks are
completed to a high standard.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, performing duties in a
professional manner.
- Regulate temperatures of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters,
ensuring optimal cooking conditions.
- Pull food from freezer storage to thaw in the refrigerator,
maintaining food safety and quality.
- Ensure proper portion, arrangement, and food garnish, meeting
quality expectations.
- Maintain food logs, monitoring the quality and quantity of
prepared food.
- Communicate assistance needs during busy periods, ensuring
seamless service delivery.
- Inform the Chef of excess food items for use in daily
specials.
- Inform Food & Beverage service staff of menu specials and out
of stock menu items.
- Ensure the quality of food items, adhering to accepted
standards of sanitation.
- possess a good working knowledge of the fundamentals of the
broiler, saut--, fry, roast, moist heat and other cooking
methods.
- Have knowledge of operating all kitchen equipment, i.e.,
stoves, ovens, broilers, steamers, kettles, etc.
- Basic mathematical skills necessary to understand recipes,
measurements, requisition amounts and portion sizes.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English
language to complete requisitions read recipes and communicates
with other team members.
Additional Responsibilities
- Adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
- Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating,
counseling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees;
serve as a role model.
- Follow all company and safety and security policies and
procedures; report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and
unsafe work conditions to manager; complete safety training and
certifications.
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and
professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information;
protect company assets.
- Anticipate and address guests' service needs.
- Speak with others using clear and professional language.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with
others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond
appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
- Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
- Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period.
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending,
twisting, pulling, and stooping. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and
place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without
assistance.
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by
Supervisors.
